New Book: Demodiversidade – Imaginar novas possibilidades democráticas

The book, comprising 24 chapters, is based on the following question: has capitalism defeated representative democracy? The answer is given by presenting and discussing the new research contexts of the ALICE project, analysing what enables democracy, once introduced and existent in a given society, to assume its own dynamics, with specific consequences, many of which unexpected, and with specific and concrete institutional configurations. The question that underlies the book lies in the period after 2000, when democracy ceases to be something thought by and for the elites, witness to the popularisation of democracy and the consolidation of democracy in popular imagination, a consequence of various local and global struggles.
