Flávia Piovesan is an attorney, human rights activist and professor of constitutional law and human rights at the Faculty of Law, Pontifical Catholic University of São Paolo, Brazil. Piovesan was a visiting fellow of the Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School (1995 and 2000), the Centre for Brazilian Studies, University of Oxford (2005) and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (Heidelberg, 2007 and 2008), Humboldt Foundation George Foster research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (2009-2011). Currently she is a member of the National Council in Defence of the Rights of the Human Person, a High Level Task Force of the United Nations to implement the right to development and also of the Organization of American States working group for monitoring the San Salvador Protocol on social, economic and cultural rights. She has published broadly in areas such as human rights, international law and constitutional law.
