An Advanced Seminar for the discussion of some of the problems faced by indigenous women and their communities in Mexico. In this session, Rosalva Aída Hernández presented in detail the case of Inés Fernández Ortega, a victim of rape by Mexican soldiers in 2002. Inés decided to reclaim for justice in the supranational legal institution “Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos” after eight years struggling for justice in Mexico. In this seminar, Rosalva presented collaborative research results addressing why violence, racism and gender inequalities affect the lives of Mexican indigenous women, blocking their access to justice.
