“What are the social sciences for?

ALICE – a different way of making science”

From 8th to 12th of July, ALICE will receive ten students of the three final years of secondary school and from all parts of Portugal, for a Live Science Summer Internship that is developed in partnership with the Programme Live Science in the Laboratory – Scientific Occupation of Students during the Holydays – promoted by the National Agency Live Science, and within the extension activities of the Center for Social Studies. This Live Science Summer Internship departures from key questions such as: what is objectivity? What is a citizen-science committed with social change and with the production of a better world? What are participatory methodologies? Among scheduled activities are: contact with counter-hegemonic agency news; study visits to civil society’s organizations that work in the fields of human rights, democracy and solidary economy; a micro-workshop of the Popular University of Social Movements in which students and researchers will share experiences and knowledge in a process of mutual learning.
