Public Lectures 2014 – Second Video Available

Prof. Boaventura de Sousa Santos presented the South-South dialogues as elements resting in the history and that are completely necessary in present times. That assumption was ground not only in a strong historical contextualisation, but towards several geopolitical dimensions and de facto examples. The first lecture was revisited in order to present the Global South once again as the metaphor of exclusion and radical differentiation. That was an introductory view in order to sustain the idea that in some fields, the South-South dialogues are eventually overcoming the North-South dialogues. The latter remain offering a normative and hierarchical approach towards the economic, the political and epistemological dimensions, recalling for a new leverage. This lecture was held in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra , the second lecture of the series of Master Classes by  Prof. Boaventura de Sousa Santos for the current academic year.
