On 5 March 2014, Professor Boaventura de Sousa Santos had a “Conversation of the World” with Professor Mogobe Ramose at Freedom Park, Pretoria.
On 28 February 2014, Professor Boaventura de Sousa Santos and ALICE Project South African researcher Tshepo Madlingozi paid a visit to the biggest social movement in Grahamstown, the Unemployment People’s Movement (UPM). In the picture is Sally (senior lecturer at Rhodes University), Rose (chairperson of the UPM) and Ayanda (general secretary of UPM).
On 21 February 2014, Professor Boaventura de Sousa Santos and ALICE Project South African researcher Tshepo Madlingozi paid a visit to the Constitutional Court of South Africa. The visit was facilitated by Paula Rainha and the two visitors were generously received by Justice Edwin Cameroon. Paula Rainha then took Prof Boaventura and Tshepo through a tour of this unique Court which is build on the site of the Old Fort prison, the only prison in the world where Gandhi and Mandela had once been prisoners.

The lecture was entitled: Human Rights as an emancipatory script: Political and cultural conditions”

The talk was hosted by Prof Jimi Adesina and a vote of thanks was given by former Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Thoko Didiza”
