Promoting European volunteering for humanitarian and development issues

@ Afromedianet, Seyssel, France - May 27, 2013 9:00 am – May 31, 2013 5:00 pm

Dhruv Pande delivers a lecture titled “North learning from the South: the innovations in social-solidarity economies and volunteering in India” in the workshop “Promoting European volunteering for humanitarian and development issues”.

Concept Note of the Workshop:

France has developed a new concept of ‘social and solidarity-based economics (ESS)’, which
combines social entrepreneurship and values of solidarity from civil society organisations,
non governmental organisations, associations, foundations, cooperatives, and many other
institutions from the non-profit sector. It respresents more than 10% of the wage mass, 9%
of entreprises and more than 2 million employees.
Under the lifelong learning programme, Afromedianet conducts a traineeship programme on
cooperation and development for students and recent graduates seeking to pursue a career
in international development and humanitarian work. Promoting cross-border volunteering
as a means to engage young people translates the fundamental values of justice, solidarity,
inclusion and citizenship upon which Europe is founded into action.
