Summary
The “Story of a death foretold: the coup against Allende, 11 September 1973”, which is the title of Guardiola-Rivera forthcoming book, is used in order to propose that it is time to recover the memory of the 1960s-1970s – not in terms of melancholia but in terms of political creativity and activism – as a time of militancy and production of transformative knowledge from the south, as such memory is particularly relevant for the times of crisis and inability to act.
Biography
Oscar Guardiola-Rivera teaches international law and globalization at Birkbeck College, University of London. He is recognized as a leading young voice on Latin American philosophy, law and politics. Mr. Guardiola-Rivera has served as an aide to the Colombian congress and is the cofounder of a think tank devoted to politics, human rights and conflict resolution.
